Why are solar panels so expensive?
The space age technology. I can buy a non-stick skillet to Tesco for £ 3.99, Why I can not buy a decent solar panel for £ 9.99? The cheapest retail panels and electrical components appears to be 50 pounds.
A important reason for the cost of solar panels is so high is that the cells of the newer markets solar mass are made of crystalline silicon that is difficult and expensive to manufacture. The drive for increased efficiency of solar cells has focused on crystalline silicon as the basis of most solar cells available. He do research on other technologies with the hope that they can eliminate the need for expensive crystalline silicon. With the focus on renewable energy that hope is on increase.
